Air Squat

An air squat is simply a bodyweight squat.  It can be used as a basic strength movement for beginning exercisers, and particularly as part of warm-ups and movement preparation.  To perform the exercise correctly follow the technique in the video and description below.

  1. Start in the standing position with the feet slightly wider than hip width apart.
  2. Initiating movement from the hip, flex the hips and knees while pulling the body downward as deep as possible in the squat position.
  3. Stand back up by contracting the glutes while extending the knees and hips.
