An air squat is simply a bodyweight squat. It can be used as a basic strength movement for beginning exercisers, and particularly as part of warm-ups and movement preparation. To perform the exercise correctly follow the technique in the video and description below.
- Start in the standing position with the feet slightly wider than hip width apart.
- Initiating movement from the hip, flex the hips and knees while pulling the body downward as deep as possible in the squat position.
- Stand back up by contracting the glutes while extending the knees and hips.
